If you are recovering from laser resurfacing or a chemical peel, be good to your new skin! When the doctor provides you with clearance to use makeup, give careful consideration to the type of makeup you use during your recovery period. Consider using mineral makeup which is made with few, if any, preservatives. Its colors come from the pigments of inert earth minerals. This feature makes it more appropriate for use by women with healing, sensitive, and acne-prone skin than conventional cosmetics.
It is imperative that patients who have undergone laser resurfacing and chemical peels protect their skin from the ravaging effects of the sun during the post-operative period and beyond. As an added benefit, mineral-based foundations, pressed and loose powders, blushes, bronzers, and eye shadows often contain titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide that provide the skin with sun protection.
